Bra Fit Checklist: Band, Cups, Straps, and Comfort Hacks

Bra fit checklist

Fit starts with the band

80% of support comes from the band. It should be snug on the loosest hook when new, level around the torso, and not ride up. If it slides, size down in the band (and up in the cup if needed).

Check cups and straps

  • Cups: no gaping or spillage; center gore flat for underwire.
  • Straps: adjust to lift without digging; they should not carry all the weight.
  • Wire placement: the wire should encase tissue, not sit on it.

Comfort hacks

  • Try on later in the day; bodies change.
  • Switch between styles (wire-free, lightly lined, lace) through the week.
  • Use strap cushions or gel pads if you carry more weight in the bust.

Signs you need a new size

Band rides up, straps dig, cups wrinkle or overflow, or gore doesn’t tack. Refit if your weight, hormones, or activity level changes.

Care tips

Hand wash or bag-wash on gentle; air dry. Rotate bras and avoid dryers to preserve elastic. Replace when support drops.
